Keep in Touch

As many of you may have noticed, 2016 was a year full of on-and-off communication from me. Mostly off, though. My vow this year, and in years to follow, is to maintain a more open line of communication. I want you to be able to get to know me, as well as my stories and characters. You can probably take that as my new year’s resolution (even though I don’t make those). I’m going to start out by sharing things I identify with more often.

Part of the reason I was so… well, gone, is because of illness, both physical and mental. I live with chronic depression and overwhelming anxiety most days out of the year, and symptoms pertaining to fibromyalgia don’t much help with that. In addition, at the end of January 2016, my family suffered a terrible loss brought on by the hands of one of our own. Due to the circumstances surrounding the tragedy, I won’t go into the details except to tell you how it affected me—I was left with night terrors, stronger and longer bouts of depression, and the stress the incident caused me had physical repercussions for my fibromyalgia.

Now, on to the happy stuff!

Keep in Touch, Mari is the new theme of my monthly newsletter, which I will be keeping up with. Shocking, right? I’m writing this on Christmas Eve 2016, and immediately afterward I’ll be coming up with content ideas for the first newsletter, which will be sent out at the end of January. I’m on top of this for once, it would seem.

This is important to me, because, while it would be amazing to sell tons and tons of books, what’s more important to me is building a relationship with my readers. That was my goal from the first moment I decided I wanted to pursue publishing, and it has maintained priority as I continued down this path. My problem with keeping up with my social media presence is that I never know what to say! I constantly second-guess anything I try to write, and it’s not conducive to actually posting things. Anxiety sucks. I never thought that my social anxiety would extend to online socializing, but there we have it. Time to just be my silly self and hope for the best, huh?

Anyway, this post has gone on long enough.

No, wait, I lied!

I previously posted that I plan to offer a free serial book to my readers as a way of saying thank you for sticking with me so long, despite it taking such a long time for me to get The Melancholy Storm out to you. For a while, I considered offering it on Wattpad (I even shared a promo with the Wattpad logo on it), but I recently had the idea that maybe I could send it through a separate newsletter instead. If you wouldn’t mind, I’d appreciate your input on this below.

I’m still toying with the idea, and Forever & Always is still a ways away from beginning its weekly installments, but I’d like to have the plans for it cemented in time for it to start. Writing will start in February, after The Melancholy Storm is complete.

Speaking of plans…

Nothing is set in stone, but here’s the tentative order in which I’ll be writing and publishing the next handful of books. It might change depending on new ideas that hit me, but here you go!

The Melancholy StormBrimstone #2 should be almost finished by the time this post goes live!

The Shadowed AirBrimstone #3

Lost Between the PagesMystical Pages #1 More on this soon!

The Cursed Wolf – Brimstone #4

Alright, that’s enough for now. Keep an eye out for new blog posts (the goal is to post a new one every two weeks, but that might be pushing it) as well as other updates.

Happy New Year!

Happy New Year!

It’s such a relief to be back in the swing of things. I feel like I lost a full year battling various things in my life (more on that later, I promise), but I’m finally feeling like my old self, and that means more writing and creating things.

However, I never lost track of all the plans and ideas I have for the handful of books I already had in my line-up, and I’m more excited than ever to get those written and out to you. I just… I’ve been in such a funk the past year that I wasn’t able to write—I just kept falling into a dark hole whenever I tried.

I’m still planning the free serial Forever & Always, but don’t worry about it getting in the way of The Brimstone Series—I’m only writing one day out of the week on F&A, while the other six days will be devoted to current book projects.

Speaking of those, I have a new trilogy planned that I’m psyched about, and I’m hoping to get the first book out in October. But again, don’t worry—I won’t let it take you away from Brimstone for too long. In fact, here’s what my schedule looks like, as planned…

That’s only writing about two hours a day, so I can spend some free time taking care of keeping the connection going with you.

Now, that’s enough of book talk. I’m going to try my damnedest to keep up with posting a blog every two weeks, and I’ve already got the next one scheduled. It won’t always be about the books, because I want everyone to get to know me, too. So keep an eye out for that. I’m excited!

I wish you the best in the upcoming year!
